Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge #226

Hello everyone!
Each week Our Daily Bread Designs offers the "Shining the Light" Challenge for card makers. You can find details about the challenge here:

The challenge this week is to use this sketch:

I did alter the sketch to accommodate the soldier stamp I wanted to use (and I do not have the lovely "Joy in a Jar" apothecary stamp or die set yet....it is on my wish list though.) I wanted to make
a card to send to Operation Write Home because they collect cards and
letters of encouragement for our deployed heros.  I will write a little note in it for
a soldier to thank them for their service to our country.

The patterned paper is from Our Daily Bread Designs "Patriotic Collection" and the soldier and sentiment are from Our Daily Bread Designs "Not Forgotten" stamp set.
You can find these items here:

I stamped the image and sentiment using Momento Ink in Black and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder.  I added red and navy ink to the flag image after embossing using a pointed Q-Tip to get around those tight corners of the stars.

The silver star is from Oriental Trading Company and was part of a patriotic
embellishment collection you can find here:
Thank you for stopping by!
:)

  6. hello Melissa - I just saw this incredible patriotic card and caught my breath for a moment. Is there anyway you might sell this card to me? My husband's oldest son killed himself one year ago tomorrow (Feb 20th). When he returned from Iraq, he suffered terribly from PTSD and depression. One week before he took his life, my husband had him committed to a VA hospital only for him to be released two days later with a higher dosage of drugs. He got out on Monday, went to Wal Mart Wednesday and bought a gun and killed himself Thursday night, two days after his son's 5th birthday. Three children lost their father (the wife is too evil to mention) and my husband lost his son. Also, one month after this, my husband decided he no longer wanted this 14 yr marriage, totally blindsided me. He only wants to live alone. In any event, I am making a large shadowbox for my husband, once I am moved, and this card would be so perfect to include in the shadowbox. I've been trying to collect different things but it is hard to find cards or 'special' backgrounds to include. If possible, I would like to buy this from you. Thank you so much for listening, Debbie debkay at Comcast dot net
