Hello everyone! I made this card for the Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge # 179. I love this sketch because it allows me to use up pretty scraps of paper. You can find this sketch and the details here: OWH Sketch # 179
I flipped the sketch so that I could use this image and had to adjust a couple of the measurements to accommodate the paper bits I wanted to use (well, use up actually.) :)
This beautiful darling is Saturated Canary's "Nevaeh" and I just think she is so pretty. Another card artist (so sorry I can not remember who) added mini pearls to this dress and I could not wait to try it, although I used pearl pen so it would not have too much dimension for Operation Write Home. You can purchase this lovely image here:
I used Spectrum Noir's Coral Reds (my favorites) on her dress, specifically CR5, CR4, & CR3. I used Copics on her hair. E40, E42, & E43 (Spectrum Noir's EB1 matches Copic's E40, however Spectrum Noir does not have anything similar to Copic's E42 & E43.)
The papers were from my scrap pile and I hate to admit, they were rather "mature"......I hate saying old....they have been lovingly preserved in my paper keeper. So I do not even have paper companies to list.
I used my Cricut for the fancy scroll (Accent Essentials Cartridge and I cut it on white and then colored it with the same colors I used on her dress) and the scalloped edge was from the Elegant Edges Cartridge. I added a couple pearls and gems for sparkle and some Glossy Accents on her shoes and eyes.
The sentiment is a Penny Black Wood Mount stamp dated 2007 and the pearl pen on her dress is my favorite Viva Decor Pearl Pen in Ice White.
Thank you for stopping by!
Your card is beautiful, wonderful colouring, her dress look stunning.

Thank you so much! :)
DeleteSo cute! Love the color combos and the Saturated Canary image. I especially like the sentiment. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! Love the image and your coloring is gorgeous. I have that background paper too and have also lovingly preserved mine as well. I'm inspired to use it after seeing it make such a lovely backdrop for Nevaeh.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much.....I am afraid to even guess how old that background paper is....6? 7 years old? Older?
DeleteLove it when we can use up scraps and make a card that is this gorgeous! Beautiful job on the coloring. The card did make me smile too!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! :)
DeleteI think you've made those "mature" scraps shine in this youthful card. The pearls on the dress are lovely, as is your coloring. Thanks for playing along!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you so much. :)
DeleteYour coloring is outstanding- love the colors in her dress! And the mature papers- well-- sometimes older is better! I love the scroll- need to pull out that cartridge- thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I am starting to feel better about that old paper after reading everyone's comments. :)
DeleteYour coloring is wonderful and the sentiment is perfect! And how cool to be able to use up your scraps. I'm the worst scrap wrangler ever. But, I have an excuse. . . Whenever I need one little teeny piece, I'll probably have it! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much JoAnn! :)
DeleteI LOVE the color combination you used - very trendy! And great way to make the sketch your own!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty card. The colors are very nice together and the embellishment is very nice.

Thank you so much!

This is so pretty! The image is so beautiful, and the patterned paper is as well. I purchased my first ever alcohol based markers this weekend--Spectrum Noir. I only bought 2 packages of 6 so I can learn to use them before I spend my entire crafting allowance (!)
ReplyDeleteTFS this beauty :)
Thank you so much Cynthia! :) I spy a kitty in your profile picture, sweet.
DeleteAbsolutely gorgeous Melissa! I love how the two orange papers allow the background to show but not be overpowering. The image is adorable and you colored her superbly. The pearls make is so fancy, and the scroll is a nice touch. I notice you use scrolls on your other cards. THanks for playing!
ReplyDeleteThank you Marlene! I have just started adding a scroll here and there after finding it available on one of my old Cricut cartridges. I cut out several on white card stock and then I have been using Spectrum Noir to make them the color I want for each card. :)
DeleteMelissa T,
